Your “life story” is made up of words that express the memories and experiences stored in your brain.

Memories are formed by you uniquely and may include be triggered by your senses or reoccurrences of similar situations and feelings.

Capturing your life story, as an adult, can be a powerful tool for self reflection and understanding how the adult you came to be formed that way you are; but memories can be skewed by trauma and emotion and others may not recall events the same way.

Working through your memories or biography with a trusted person can help you process the past with skills and insight you have now as an adult.

How to narrate your life story

Your story is your superpower

PeaceBuilders Opinion 1

Looking back at my life when someone asks me about my life story is often a bit tricky. I am older and have a lot of life experiences as I have traveled a lot and done a lot of different things.

All of these random memory making moments, the good, the bad and the ugly, are packed away in my brain somewhere, in a seemingly logical and orderly way.

Once I open the memory tap, I find a flood of memories that I had not thought about for a very long time. Some bring past hurts and emotions as if those events happened yesterday.

Life is all about creating memories and memories form the content of all our stories, even if they are not always 100% correct. It guides us and gives us something to reflect on as we build and shape our values and purpose of existence.

It all sounds very complex, but it's actually the simplicity of just living and sharing life and experiences with fellow humans that help shape some of our deepest connections and future stories to reflect on.
