Stress / Anxiety
The good and the bad
Stress is any demand placed on your brain or physical body. Any event or scenario that makes you feel frustrated or nervous can trigger it. Anxiety is a feeling of fear, worry, or unease. While it can occur as a reaction to stress, it can also happen without any obvious trigger.
And stress is often short term, it's short-lived, it ends, and once the stressor is removed, individuals usually will feel better. But with anxiety, it is often present even when there is not an identified stressor. That's probably the biggest difference between them.
Remember that stress is not caused by an event - it is caused by your preception or beliefs or decisions about that event.
How stress can make you feel:
Irritable, angry, impatient or wound up.
Over-burdened or overwhelmed.
Anxious, nervous or afraid.
Like your thoughts are racing and you can't switch off.
Unable to enjoy yourself.
Depressed.
Uninterested in life.
Like you've lost your sense of humour.
Warnings signs of stress in adults may include:
Crying spells or bursts of anger.
Difficulty eating.
Losing interest in daily activities.
Increasing physical distress symptoms such as headaches or stomach pains.
Fatigue.
Feeling guilty, helpless, or hopeless.
Avoiding family and friends.

The term stress and anxiety are often used interchangeably
When we are able to meet the demands of our environment we tend to feel good, even when that involves stress.
What we feel as stress is when our brain is preparing us to do something.
The brain allows the release of energy to increase your alertness and react to your environment
We conceptualize anxiety as a more fear-based response. But this is one way the overall stress response can vary to meet your needs.

Summary:
Stress is not always the enemy. It is also our most valuable tool.
Learning to replenish after a period of stress is more realistic than trying to eliminate it.
Stress helps you to perform and do what matters, but we were not built to be in a constant state of stress.
We need stress for fun and a challenging life, but too much and the benefits are lost.
**29. When the good stress goes bad **
Summary:
The stress response works at its best when it is short term
Chronic stress is like trying to drive your car on the motorway in second gear.
There is only so long before damage is done.
Burnout is not just a workplace issue.
There is no silver bullet for everything.
The right balance for one person will be unrealistic for another.
If you are showing signs of burnout.
Listen to them and respond now by starting to meet your needs.
