Different options
Our relationships act as a mirror that reflects the depth of our inner most selves.
It can reveal to us what we accept, reject or hide, even to ourselves.
Our relationship trauma or drama often is reenactments of unresolved traumas still locked in our mind and body.
The "ingredients of a healthy relationship" are the basic recipe for a successful partnership.
They include the dramas, the traumas as well as the trust, communication, respect, and understanding.
Just as you need various ingredients to make a dish delicious, these qualities are essential for a strong, growing, and positive relationship.
They help both partners move forward together in a happy and fulfilling way, creating a deep an meaningful connection.
Breaking the silence
The men's health crisis
Men are expected by society to be providers for and protectors of others, however they are often poor guardians of their own physical and mental health.
Compared to women, men are less likely to get routine physicals, and when they feel sick or injured, men are more likely to ignore their symptoms and less likely to seek medical care.
Men are also more likely to engage in health risk behaviors (e.g. smoking, substance abuse, drinking, and driving, and poor diets) that are associated with a variety of diseases, injuries and death.
Similarly, when faced with emotional distress, men are less likely than women to seek professional assistance with their mental health concerns.
Due to male stereotypical beliefs shaped by past and present societies and cultures men often find it difficult to ask for mental health support.
Because relationships are such a huge part of our human identity, BJC's primary purpose is to help connect local men with relationship struggles to other local men that are working though their own mental health journey.
BJC wants to normalize the idea that men are not perfect and that we might need some tools, resources and local male orientated emotional team support.
